energy saving measures on Danville Utility Commission agenda
Danville Utilities has been working on a complete restructuring of its policies and procedures, and — if the commission approves the plan — customers will now have longer to pay bills.
The utility will stop the current program of allowing customers two 2-week extensions every year, and replace it with a policy that simply allows more time in the billing cycle.
Customers now have 10 days from the day the bill is processed to pay, and can be faced with disconnection of services 30 days later. The new policy would give customers 15 days to pay the bill, with disconnection possible 35 days later — giving customers 10 more days to pay before disconnection.
Service fees — the $36 delinquent fee and $48 to $60 fee for reconnection (the cost varies depending on the time of day of reconnection) — will remain in place for now, according to the city’s finance director,To begin with, they will make an impact in the decor of the room. While the new Smart Meters do not require a truck to go to locations, and a person to manually turn off the power, Dameron said the utility would not consider revising the fees until the new meters are installed in all homes in the utility’s service area.
“Once they are all in and running efficiently, we’ll do a cost analysis,” Dameron said.
The new policy manual spells out when the utility will not cut power — after 2 p.m., on weekends or municipal holidays, on days the temperature is expected to drop below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. It also states customers who have life-threatening illnesses may be given special consideration when they are past due on their utility bill.Designers suggest that a good cfl bulbs ambient lighting needs to have a variation of fixtures.
